WINEMAKING NOTES:  Much like the 2007 and 2009 growing seasons, 2010 gave us a cool summer capped off with searing heat as harvest approached.  We harvested just in time for the first big rains of the season in late October, and found that the late season Indian summer heat that had pushed the grapes along in ripeness did much to develop excellent quality fruit with deep extractions and well-developed flavors.  This wine was aged in 100% French oak (70% new) for 21 months.

TASTING NOTES:  Silky, balanced dark cherry flavors. The tannins are long and elegant, interwoven with very smooth dark fruit flavor. Complex and lingering fruit continues through the finish.

"Rich and creamy-textured, with supple plum, currant and blackberry flavors that show touches of espresso, mocha and licorice, ending with tannins that firm, giving the flavors traction.  Drink now through 2024." - James Laube, Wine Spectator

PAIR WITH: Grilled, roasted, or braised red meats with full flavor preparation. Great sauce pairings include meat stock, mustard, and pepper.
