1999 Richard Partridge Cabernet Sauvignon
A wet winter preceded beautiful spring weather and a consistent, but small fruit set. Moderate temperatures prevailed during the summer, and warm fall weather produced grapes with a great balance of ripeness and acidity. These grapes enjoyed a month of extended maceration that ultimately adds additional depth and richness to the wine. After fermentation, the wine was aged for 20 months in a combination of new and two year old Seguin Moreau, Demptos Allier, and Troncais Oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Cabernet Sauvignon (Sacrashe and Snowden Vineyards) with a touch of Merlot (McKinney Vineyard)
“Medium-dark ruby; attractive, rich, intense, complex, ripe cherry and cassis aroma with overtones of cream oak; full body; forward, rich, textured, slightly plummy, ripe red currant, flavors; well balanced and structured; medium-full to full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Deserves several years of bottle aging.” – California Grapevine, April 2002
